Mexico Swine Flu - COMPUTER vs. VIRUS - Will Social Media and Computer help us now?

Mexico Swine Flu - Is computer help on the way? Will Social Media help  us now?

I heard the news as I was cutting the salad for the evening family dinner.

The kids were yelling happily as I heard few disturbing words "…panic…gas masks…we are very very worried".

And I had a sudden chilling feeling, as if  I was inside the Stephen King Movie "The Stand", where

almost 90% of the world was wiped out by a deadly Virus.

I stopped cutting the salad.

My mind started running like a car that has lost its brakes.

The kids…my wife…then me…will we be safe?

The previous  global scale virus break was stopped using computer help,

massive scientific global effort, as well as worldwide co-operation and nation to nation

open communication channels.

It was said that without this combined effort we would be in a massive deadly outbreak.

We have  increased our  abilities since then.

The same tools we use for web marketing can be used to fight the Mexico Swine Flu.

We have cheap and yet massive computing help from amazon  offering its endless storage

and massive computer farms for few cents per scientific effort.

We have cheap worldwide communication channels such as skype to help startups and scientists

discuss solutions.

We have massive social media tools to help us communicate any finding in seconds, just in a click

of a button, as it did during the massive fire outbrakes in Australia a month ago.

I sat down and stared at the T.V. screen.

Will computer help us this time again?

Will social media come to the rescue?

How can we as marketers use our web marketing insights to help the fight against the Mexico Swine Flu?
